It’s ROCK WITH LAUGHTER 2010! AT THE NEC LG ARENA

Monday, October 18th, 2010

It’s Here – It’s Back…
It’s ROCK WITH LAUGHTER 2010!

A Variety Show, and the best Christmas Party rolled into one!

FRIDAY 10TH & SATURDAY 11TH DECEMBER 2010

NEC Birmingham LG ARENA

Well it’s that time of year again, autumn has approached, the nights are drawing in  and the main thing on everyone’s mind  is yes you’ve guessed it Christmas. Where are we going to go for our works xmas do? Shall we hire a hummer or hire a limo to Birmingham? At Coventry Limo, part of American Limousine Company, Midlands Limos you can hire a 16 seater Hummer with a COIF (certificate of Initial Fitness) to The NEC LG Arena Birmingham or for smaller groups you could hire a limo for 8 passengers, travel in style and this will be Christmas Party to remember
With an amazing line up …this will be one of the the best Variety Shows in Town and a wonderful perfect way to start the Christmas Celebrations.

2010’s line-up is excellent. Laughter-wise, there will the best talent around, with the return of the fabulous Alan Carr, since he won the BBC New Comedy Award for stand – up as well as City Life way back in 2001, he has become one the hottest comedy stars in Britain, winning many awards year after year. Also in programme will be Ed Byrne, small screen star and sell out stand-up comic, ED is a Perrier Award -nominated, Irish stand up comedian.  Also on the list of outstanding comedians will be Jo Brand, the first lady of stand-up. And of course, the one and only Lenny Henry is the Master of Ceremonies, Lenny Henry continues to make us laugh with his fantastic humour.

Musically, it will defiantly be a night to remember with exceptional acts this year. The beautiful, soulful, powerhouse, outstanding Beverley Knight our very own souls singer born Wolverhampton, West Midlands will grace the stage, It¹s been quite a ride for Beverley since those early days. Try one platinum and 4 gold album, 3 MOBO awards, Brit and Mercury nomination and an MBE for starters. And that’s before you get to shared stages with the likes of Prince (Beverley performed with him on several of his sell out 21 Nights dates), performances for the likes of Nelson Mandela and Quincy Jones, and racking up 14 Top 40 hits proving commercial longevity and British black music needed be mutually exclusiv terms. By the time of 2006’s platinum-shifting ‘Voice – The Best of Beverley Knight’ she had won over thousands of new fans touring with Take That on their comeback arena tour (she more than filled Lulu’s shoes) and appeared (somewhat reluctantly) on hit BBC sing-off show Just The Two of Us.  Also in the line up the brilliant Björn Again, performing the greatest hits of Abba. Bjorn again was created and founded in 1988 in Melbourne, Australia by Director and Musician Rod Stephen. His show, whilst not labelled a copy or tribute band, is seen as a satirical parody of ABBA which has achieved worldwide cult status. With the smash hit film ‘Mamma Mia!’ proving that ABBA’s music is as popular as ever, Bjorn Again presents a trip to the Theatre you’ll never forget . Featuring ABBA’s greatest hits and. And yes it’s true the legendry Mr Rolf Harris, remember the song that could make your hair stand up on end “Two little Boys”.  The wonderfully talented Adrian Edmondson and The Bad Shepherds, with their unique notion of playing oddball songs on folk instruments, so yes, there’s a significant possibility you’ll hear Sex Pistols played on a mandolin. Check them out on You Tube – it’s amazingly clever. And, to bring in the Christmas cheer, we’ve got once again our Midlands band Slade singing Merry Christmas and all I need to say is… IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!

Organise this now and you’ll be the envy of everyone, hiring a limo, or hiring a hummer to Birmingham to watch a fantastic night of entertainment will certainly add the Finishing Touches to your amazing night. Forget, and you’ll be wondering why Christmas isn’t as much fun as it used to be!

Producing A Fantastic Function By Choosing The Most Appropriate Caterer.

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Choosing a caterer for your looming event can turn your special event into a superb success or total calamity That’s why I have taken the time today to discuss a few things you should consider, if you take them on board, you are sure to have a happy outcome.

The first thing I say to potential customers is “Do you have a plan on how much you wish to spend?” If they don’t have any concept on this and they are already talking with me as their potential caterer they are either going to have unrealistic expectations, or will be fleeced by an unprofessional competitor. So, before you pick up the telephone, plan how much money you are willing to spend, give or take a minor margin. With appropriate preparation it’s amazing how a tightly budgeted function can look and feel like an incredible lavish event.

It’s now appropriate for me to share with you the ‘Five P’s’ Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance! So get your finances in order then your caterer (if they are any good) will do their best to satisfyyour requirements.

The second most important matter when selecting the right caterer for your event is;
“Do they fit the feel” of your function. There are some great caterers around that will produce a ‘special vibe for your occasion’ whilst others will ‘bring the whole vibe down’ so you should talk with many caterers before hand, as much as possible, so you can get a feel whether they will fit in to your special event. How will your guests respond to being served by this caterer? Do they present themselves well? Is their attitude in line with the experience you are attempting to create?
What is the quality of the food like? Can I try the food prior to the event?

Many caterers who specialise in mobile catering don’t have a shop and in fact their cuisine is more often than not perfect as it is not an add onto their retail focus. They have created delicacies specific for their chosen niche that can be created and cooked on-site. So if you are unable to get to taste the cuisine, appraise their client reviews. How many testimonials do they have? Are the client reviews from similar clients e.g. testimonials for wedding events are similar what you are planning.

Please ask as many questions to the caterer as you can. Professional caterers have heard 99.9% of these questions before and should have a more than adequate response for you. From my own personal experience as a caterer here in The Midlands, I realise the more questions asked in advance by my customer, the less surprises for us on the day. So ask away, professional caterers are always happy to help.

Here are some questions you should ponder asking your caterer?
What is the price?
Where do you cook? In my kitchen or outside?
Are you totally self-contained? Do you have all your own equipment?
Do you pre-set everything before my colleagues arrive?
How much food will there be?
Will there be left over’s, and if so do I keep it?
Can you cater for specific dietary requirements eg Halal, Kosher, Coeliac, Vegan, Vegetarian?
How do you get in to my venue (e.g. through garage, front door)?
Do you serve drinks as well?
What does your staff wear?
What happens if it rains?
What happens if only half the people turn up?
What do you serve the food on?
Are chefs included?
What is not included inyour price?
When do I pay you?
When do i book your service?

Finally the role of the caterer is to manage everything to do with the food, and make certain that all your requirements have been attended to prior to the occasion. Before making the final decision as to which caterer you decide on, I believe you will feel it in your heart and it will be confirmed in your mind that this caterer “will prove to be the perfect choice for my special day”. If you do not get that feeling, and you have some worries, ask more questions or start again.

Planning Tips For Your Christmas Party

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

Summer’s officially passed and as exciting or as depressing as it may sound, the build up to Christmas is almost upon us. With the economic climate looking slightly less grey than last year, event planners seem optimistic about what the festive season has in store. Research showed that on average just one in four employees were lucky enough to receive an invitation to a corporate Christmas event in 2009 which was a worrying statistic for those involved in the events industry. This year however it appears that venues are already being booked up in advance which would suggest that things are in fact looking up.

It is fair to say that many organisations are still feeling the pinch of the recession and the thought of splashing out on a glitzy champagne fuelled Christmas spectacle is enough to turn ones stomach. This is however a burden that can be efficiently managed to be kept at an affordable cost without compromising a spectacular atmosphere. A couple of years back the industry saw companies splashing out 10s of 1000s on huge events, covering the costs of Limo hire and hummer hire expensive champagne and amazing entertainment. These last two years however have seen an increase in package deals to suit every budget which allow companies to put on an impressive corporate event without blowing the bank. When planning a Christmas event whilst working to a budget, it is hugely important to look closely through each package and make sure that there is nothing that inflicts unnecessary cost. Many event organisers now enable their customers to tailor-make their own packages to suit their specific needs.

Below are some tips that will help you keep your costs down this Christmas:

1. Be flexible with the date: The Saturday before Christmas is definitely the wrong night for your Christmas party unless you want to splash out and book way in advance, at least for a worth while venue. There are a lot of venues that offer great mid-week prices which is an option that is well worth looking at. Another option is to hold your Christmas party earlier on in the month as it’s quieter period and this is reflected in the price.

2. Choose your suppliers carefully: If you require outside caterers or external equipment such as furniture hire it is a lot more efficient to source these locally as delivery charges can work out to be very expensive. For example if you’re looking for crockery hire Surrey, type this search term into your search engine and it will come up with a list of local suppliers.

3. Tax Entitlements: As long as it is an annual event and open to all employees you are able to claim back tax on all expenses as long as the costs work out to below £150 per head. This means that keeping a close eye on costs will reward you even more in the wider picture. Anything over that amount and you will not be able to claim back a single penny.

4. Transport: Remember Christmas is a time for celebrations, alcolhol is a big part of getting in the party mood. Drink driving is a big NO, so to be able to relax and enjoy your festivities hire a hummer from Limo Hire Coventry part of American Limousine Company Coventry, they operate in The Midlands, covering Limo Hire Birmingham Limo Hire Leicester, Hummer Hire Northampton, Hummer Hire Rugby and throughout the UK, the Hummers and limos are amazing from 8 seats to 16 seater legal hummers with a COIF ( certificate of Initial Fitness ) all with mood lighting, Lazers, full Bars and VIP area

Follow these pointers and it is likely that you will be able to save some valuable pennies whilst being able to reward your staff for all their hard work in 2010.

Coventry Register Office  is a great place to get married.

Coventry Register Office is the former Cheylesmore Manor and dates back to the 14thCentury,and was part of the estate of Edward III, and was acquired by Queen Isabella and her grandson the Black Prince who took up hunting there. It is the oldest building in the country in use as a Register Office marriage room. What is left of the Manor house is the gate house which is where marriages take place in oak beamed splendor. There is an attractive courtyard where wedding parties have some lovely photo’s taken in a wonderful setting.  This wonderful register office in Coventry is the perfect opportunity to be chauffeur driven in a white limo hire that can carry 8 passengers or maybe a legal hummer hire with a COIF certificate that can carry up to 16 passengers if you want to ferry the whole family…Maybe you are thinking of having an executive wedding car, maybe a silver  Bentley wedding car…whatever you decide Coventry registry office offers the perfect surroundings for a beautiful wedding.

Travel In a Streched Limo to Goodwood Revival Meeting

Friday, June 25th, 2010

The Goodwood Revival is, quite simply, a magical step back in history, a time to revel in the romance and glamour of motor racing as it was in the halcyon days on a circuit that has a unique place in the history of British motor sport.
For three days in September, the Goodwood Motor Circuit closes its gates on the modern world and creates a unique blend of intoxicating excitement, from the cars flashing between the grassy banks of this historic track to the breathtaking aerial manoeuvres of wartime aircraft. Why not travel in style to such an amazing event than in a stretch limo for 8 passengers or if your party is up to 16 passengers then the Black Monster H2 Hummer  is a massive head turner
The Revival is unashamedly a remembrance of motor racing as it used to be. Daring drivers racing wheel to wheel on a stage used by legends like Sir Stirling Moss, Juan Manuel Fangio, Sir Jackie Stewart and Graham Hill. Cheering them on, girls intheir late-summer frocks, men in their tweeds and trilbies and a huge crowd drawn back to the days when Goodwood was the spiritual home of motor sport.
This is the biggest and best motor racing event of the year, an enthralling time to leave the modern world behind and wallow in the way things used to be. On the track, and in the air, the drama is relentless, a feast for all the senses. The Goodwood Revival is unique, one of the wonders of the world.

What you will Experience

FRIDAY the 17th is official practice day, with drivers and riders competing for the best positions on the starting grids. Lap after lap, cars and motorcycles will be taken to the limit in search of those last few tenths of a second that will decide who starts at the front. There is also the annual Bonhams sale of priceless historic cars and motor racing artifacts.

SATURDAY the 18th sees the racing get underway with the drivers and riders jousting for those much-coveted Goodwood trophies and the honour of being a Goodwood winner. Highlights of the programme will be the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy for motorcycles, the hugely popular St Mary’s Trophy for saloon cars and the 40′s and 50′s Grand Prix cars scrambling for grip as they battle for the Goodwood Trophy. Saturday is also Ladies’ Day where the most spectacular period frocks are on show.

SUNDAY the 19th features what, for many, is the highlight of the weekend’s racing, the Royal Automobile Club TT for some of the world’s most valuable racing cars. These are the beautiful GT cars that, in days gone by, contested the TT. The motorcycles are back out again too, as are the saloon cars, as well as a mouth-watering array of historic Formula One cars and sports cars of the 1950s and 1960s in an action-packed programme of wheel to wheel racing. In the air, as ever, will be the Spitfires and Hurricanes that flew from Goodwood to take part in the Battle of Britain. The day culminates in the Award Giving ceremony where Lord March awards his much-coveted trophies and medals. Memories are made of this.

VIP Hospitality

THE SUPERSHELL BUILDING
A Goodwood landmark, seen in so many photos of the great old days of racing here. The 1950s building is right on the edge of the track at the entry to Woodcote Corner, one of the fastest on the circuit. Not only will you have a thrilling vantage point, but you will have reserved seats in the Woodcote grandstand and a transfer service from here to the Paddock where all the cars and motorcycles are based. A memorable experience for you and your guests.

THE GOODWOOD MESS
Modelled on the Driver’s Club. The Mess takes entertaining to a whole new dimension. Take a step back in time, and enjoy a truly interactive experience where the charm of the Revival will be brought to you. Situated track side, next to the assembly area and just beyond the start/finish line with great views all the way to the mighty Madgwick Corner, you are located at the heart of the action. Here your senses will be alight with the sights and sounds of these iconic racing cars being prepped and then taking their place on the start line before seeing them hustle for their space on the track.

SALVADORI PAVILIONS
These Art Deco styled pavilions occupy one of the most prestigious positions next to the well known Goodwood chicane. You are guaranteed to see some thrilling action at this tricky right-left flick leading onto the start/finish straight. Great views from the balcony, plus the option of taking your own exclusive pavilion, make this one of the most desirable vantage points on the circuit.
