Travel In a Streched Limo to Goodwood Revival Meeting

Friday, June 25th, 2010

The Goodwood Revival is, quite simply, a magical step back in history, a time to revel in the romance and glamour of motor racing as it was in the halcyon days on a circuit that has a unique place in the history of British motor sport.
For three days in September, the Goodwood Motor Circuit closes its gates on the modern world and creates a unique blend of intoxicating excitement, from the cars flashing between the grassy banks of this historic track to the breathtaking aerial manoeuvres of wartime aircraft. Why not travel in style to such an amazing event than in a stretch limo for 8 passengers or if your party is up to 16 passengers then the Black Monster H2 Hummer  is a massive head turner
The Revival is unashamedly a remembrance of motor racing as it used to be. Daring drivers racing wheel to wheel on a stage used by legends like Sir Stirling Moss, Juan Manuel Fangio, Sir Jackie Stewart and Graham Hill. Cheering them on, girls intheir late-summer frocks, men in their tweeds and trilbies and a huge crowd drawn back to the days when Goodwood was the spiritual home of motor sport.
This is the biggest and best motor racing event of the year, an enthralling time to leave the modern world behind and wallow in the way things used to be. On the track, and in the air, the drama is relentless, a feast for all the senses. The Goodwood Revival is unique, one of the wonders of the world.

What you will Experience

FRIDAY the 17th is official practice day, with drivers and riders competing for the best positions on the starting grids. Lap after lap, cars and motorcycles will be taken to the limit in search of those last few tenths of a second that will decide who starts at the front. There is also the annual Bonhams sale of priceless historic cars and motor racing artifacts.

SATURDAY the 18th sees the racing get underway with the drivers and riders jousting for those much-coveted Goodwood trophies and the honour of being a Goodwood winner. Highlights of the programme will be the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy for motorcycles, the hugely popular St Mary’s Trophy for saloon cars and the 40′s and 50′s Grand Prix cars scrambling for grip as they battle for the Goodwood Trophy. Saturday is also Ladies’ Day where the most spectacular period frocks are on show.

SUNDAY the 19th features what, for many, is the highlight of the weekend’s racing, the Royal Automobile Club TT for some of the world’s most valuable racing cars. These are the beautiful GT cars that, in days gone by, contested the TT. The motorcycles are back out again too, as are the saloon cars, as well as a mouth-watering array of historic Formula One cars and sports cars of the 1950s and 1960s in an action-packed programme of wheel to wheel racing. In the air, as ever, will be the Spitfires and Hurricanes that flew from Goodwood to take part in the Battle of Britain. The day culminates in the Award Giving ceremony where Lord March awards his much-coveted trophies and medals. Memories are made of this.

Chinese Weddings

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

For the Chinese people, the purpose of marriage is to continue the ancestral line and to form a union between two families. Over the years and as many things have changed so have Chinese wedding traditions that have managed to survive the changing world, however, there are still families who wish to include traditional practices in their wedding plans.
When deciding what day to hold  their wedding day on a  traditional Chinese couple is very choosy, to most couple it is of great importance to hold the ceremony on a day which is according to the lunar calendar, another important factor is  make sure that the moon and stars are properly aligned on the chosen date. It is also customary for couples to be married on the half-hour on their wedding day rather than at the top of the hour, this way it ensures the couple begin married life together on an “upswing” while the hands of the clock move upwards rather than down.

The color red plays an important role in the wedding celebrations of the Chinese people. Red is considered by them as a bold and lucky color that will keep evil spirits away, it also signifies love,  joy and prosperity and is used in many different ways in Chinese wedding traditions. Everything is red , wedding invitations, gift envelopes, even the bride and grooms homes will be decorated in red, traditionally the brides wedding dress is red, The traditional Chinese wedding dress in northern China usually is one-piece frock named Qi Pao, embroidered with elaborate gold and silver designs. Brides from southern China usually wear two-piece dress named Qun Gua, Kwa or Cheongsam, also elaborately adorned with golden phoenix and dragon. In the old days, a piece of red veil is part of the bride’s costume to cover her face during the wedding ceremony.  Newlyweds would see each other’s face for the first time on their wedding night. In the ancient days, communication was done through letters which played a vital role in the betrothal and the organisation of thewedding. Three letters being sent during those times. First is the request letter which serves as a confirmation of the formal arrangement of marriage. This is sent by the groom’s family to the bride’s family along with gifts. The second letter is called the gift letter. It serves as a gift record that describes the value of each gift. The third one is the Wedding letter which is given to the bride’s family on the wedding day itself.
Before the wedding day a chinese  bride will go into seclusion with her closest friends to symbolically mourn the loss of her family. Days before the wedding the grooms family carries wedding gifts in red boxes to the brides house, they will also take personel things for the bride so that on the day of the wedding all her personal belongings will be at the grooms house, one of the boxes will contain “uang susu” or  ”milk money” Three days before the wedding the brides family will respond bearing gifts in wrapped in red for the grooms family.
On the big day itself the wedding is usually attended by immediate family and close friends, just after the ceremony and before the reception the bride  will be serve tea to her new inlaws, the couple will then travel to a studio in a limo for professional photograhs to be taken.
The feast or wedding banquet is an important part during the wedding. Wedding banquets are to thank family and friends for the kindness they have shown throughout the years. Most feasts will serve a twelve course meal including delicacies like roasted pig and shark fin soup. Sometimes fried rice and abalone will also be served A post wedding ritual for Chinese wedding traditions happens after the day of the wedding. The bride should wake up early to honor her ancestors. On this day, the bride is formally introduced to the groom’s family, relatives and friends. Older relatives will be giving her small tokens. Three days after the wedding, the bride will visit her family where she is welcomed and received as a guest.
