Most people get married in a church in their local town. Whilst that is fine, and very convenient, it does not lend itself to being the setting for particularly memorable event. For the location, maybe consider a nearby beach town, the countryside, or somewhere that you used to spend your holidays as a child. For the venue, your imagination is the only restriction, as licenses to hold marriage ceremonies are pretty much granted to any venue that asks for one.

Traditional wedding receptions are somewhat boring, and a few years afterwards it is hard to recall one that you attended from another one. That is because they are all basically the same, because few people put that much thought into them. You do not have to go overboard, but having a theme, such as ‘summer’ or ‘love’, and basing the color scheme, food, music, etc. around it makes a big difference. If you are stuck for ideas, or are unsure where to buy themed items from, then consult with wedding suppliers or look through a wedding directory, and you will be able to get all the information that you need.
- Involve Friends And Family
You can give your wedding a much more personal feel by asking family and friends do to the jobs that you would normally hire other people to do. Rather than this being an inconvenience to them, it is a way for them to show just how much they love you. You would be pleased to be asked by someone you know to help at their wedding, right? And, likewise, they would be please to help at yours. Taking photographs, driving wedding cars, singing at the reception, etc. all things that you can ask people to do for you in lieu of giving a gift.
- Music With A Difference
Music really changes the feel and mood of any event, and weddings are no exception. Breaking from the norm and playing music that you really like, rather than playing the same selection of songs that get played at every wedding and wedding reception, will make your wedding much more memorable. Even the way that songs are played makes a big difference, so consider hiring a violinist or harpist for the actual ceremony, and a folk band or small orchestra for the wedding reception.
