We started the day with a glass of champagne in the Coventry G Casino where gaming was already well underway, the casino is beautifully decorated to a high standard with Roulette, Blackjack, Blackjack Switch, 3 Card Poker, Electronic Roulette and £4000 Jackpot Slots all available.

We then made our way to the the Sky Blues hospitality suite buzzing with excitement ready for the day ahead. We had a further 7 bottles of champage and a delicious 4 course meal, the atmosphere was fantastic with over 50 Legends who attended the special day, some names such as Dave Bennett, Micky Gynn, Roy Barry, Dave Clements, Bill Tedds and Brian Hill but to name a few.

A great result for The Sky Blues, 2 - 0 win over Watford, a perfect way to end the day. Coventry City fans saw Gary McSheffery blast the first goal in just 3 minutes before the half hour, bringing them into the lead, Lukas Jutkiewicz scored the second goal. The Ricoh Arena had a good turn out with an attendance of 16,519.

Coventry City Football Club today announced they have appointed a new chief executive. Paul Clouting who has spent 6 years with Ipswich and has held several positions such as operations Director and business consultant over the years.

The club issued a statemement ”The club’s owners, SISU, have committed to providing further funding in order to enable the club to meet current liabilities and move towards a more secure financial standing.

“SISU has invested nearly £30 million in Coventry City Football Club in just over three years, saving the club from administration at the eleventh hour in December 2007.

“SISU is working closely with its new Directors to identify new investors that will help take the club forward to its ultimate goals of Premiership status and ownership of the Ricoh Arena.

The Coventry club has recently been described as “In Crises” the last 10 years have been extremly turbulent. Relegation from the Premier League in 2001 saw the Sky Blues slip deeper into financial mess until, in December 2007, they were facing administration.
SISU supplied £8m on Monday (March 28th) to keep the club from slipping into administration, with Hoffman seeking potenial investers with a view to buying the Ricoh Arena

With Ray Ransons departure expected to be announced on Monday it is all very unsettling for Sky Blue fans.

Over the years there has been so much rivalry between Coventry City and Birmingham City football fans, but Sunday the 27th of February saw Coventry City fans rooting for their neighboring City, Birmingham. Large groups of fans travelled in style and luxury to Wembley stadium in 16 seat hummers and limo hire to watch The Carling Cup. The Midlands fans were ecstatic when at 16.28 Birming City’s Nikola Zigic, heads the ball in to the goal, making it 1-0 Birmingham. Wembley stadium was rocking, the atmosphere was electric. At 16.40 Arsenal leveled things up and Robin van Persie then scored an equaliser putting the pressure on Birmingham City, And then in the 89th minute Obafemi Martins scored the winning goal and sparked wild celebrations among the over 30,000 Blues fans at the venue. His vital goal was enough to secure a memorable victory for the Blues, and he insists the strike is the most important of his career, as well as the easiest he has ever scored.

“I have scored a lot of important goals but since I was at Inter Milan this is the most important because it won a trophy,” Martins continued. He added: “I think this is the most easiest goal that I’ve ever scored in my career and it’s very important.

Cup-tied midfielder David Bentley had urged his Birmingham team-mates to believe they could win the Carling Cup. Bentley played for Spurs when they were beaten 4-1 by Arsenal earlier in the competition and he said: “If you are positive – and you have to believe – you can do anything. I don’t see any reason why we can’t go out there and put our stamp on the game. We shouldn’t respect them too much or let them play. We should get in their faces.”

The celebrations continue at St. Andrews stadium and will do for a long while.

The weather looks like it’s going to stay dry so why not join in the 5K Coventry Big Fun Run around the War Memorial Park . All ages and levels of ability welcome.

Sat 18th September 2010

Route:
Memorial Park is Coventry’s Premier park. At approximately 48.5 hectares in size, the park consists of two distinct areas, the formal garden with the War Memorial and the sports facilities areas with playing fields. The run starts adjacent to the Pavillion and then proceed to take advantage of the paths within the park to complete an outer lap of the park and across its middle. The route is flat throughout. Please note that the route may be subject to change.

Start/Finish
The start/finish area is located adjacent to the Pavillion/changing rooms to the West of Memorial Park. This a short walk from the Park and Ride. The nearest pedestrian access is via the gate on Kenilworth Road. The start/finish area will be indicated by a large inflatable archway.

Lots of fun for all the family to enjoy.

Well it’s just one week before the Coventry Fly-In air show at Coventry Airpor Coventry Airport are to host fundraising ‘Fly in’ for wounded servicemen and women “We owe all of our servicemen and women a debt of honour and gratitude. These are people who risk their lives every day on our behalf, and we believe that the least we can do is ensure that they are given the very best available care after being wounded in action,” said Sir Peter Rigby, Chairman of Patriot Aerospace, owner of Coventry Airport.
iconic aircraft
“I’m delighted to say that the aviation industry is giving its full support to what looks certain to be a great day out in aid of a fantastic cause. We’ll be putting on a range of entertainments and displays that offer something for everybody, so please put the date in your diary and get ready to have some fun.” Organised in support of Help for Heroes’, the funds raised will go to improving the lives of wounded servicemen and women who are all treated at the Centre for Defence Medicine based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. The Fly in at Coventry Airport is staged in partnership with the Armed Forces, the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, Coventry City Council, CV One, Loop, Classic Flight Club and Heliflight.
Their latest show Medium Wave Murders is running until Saturday night and I can tell you that this wonderful little theatre offers a warm welcome and the most comfortable auditorium.

The Goodwood Revival is, quite simply, a magical step back in history, a time to revel in the romance and glamour of motor racing as it was in the halcyon days on a circuit that has a unique place in the history of British motor sport.
For three days in September, the Goodwood Motor Circuit closes its gates on the modern world and creates a unique blend of intoxicating excitement, from the cars flashing between the grassy banks of this historic track to the breathtaking aerial manoeuvres of wartime aircraft. Why not travel in style to such an amazing event than in a stretch limo for 8 passengers or if your party is up to 16 passengers then the Black Monster H2 Hummer is a massive head turner
The Revival is unashamedly a remembrance of motor racing as it used to be. Daring drivers racing wheel to wheel on a stage used by legends like Sir Stirling Moss, Juan Manuel Fangio, Sir Jackie Stewart and Graham Hill. Cheering them on, girls intheir late-summer frocks, men in their tweeds and trilbies and a huge crowd drawn back to the days when Goodwood was the spiritual home of motor sport.
This is the biggest and best motor racing event of the year, an enthralling time to leave the modern world behind and wallow in the way things used to be. On the track, and in the air, the drama is relentless, a feast for all the senses. The Goodwood Revival is unique, one of the wonders of the world.

What you will Experience

FRIDAY the 17th is official practice day, with drivers and riders competing for the best positions on the starting grids. Lap after lap, cars and motorcycles will be taken to the limit in search of those last few tenths of a second that will decide who starts at the front. There is also the annual Bonhams sale of priceless historic cars and motor racing artifacts.

SATURDAY the 18th sees the racing get underway with the drivers and riders jousting for those much-coveted Goodwood trophies and the honour of being a Goodwood winner. Highlights of the programme will be the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy for motorcycles, the hugely popular St Mary’s Trophy for saloon cars and the 40′s and 50′s Grand Prix cars scrambling for grip as they battle for the Goodwood Trophy. Saturday is also Ladies’ Day where the most spectacular period frocks are on show.

SUNDAY the 19th features what, for many, is the highlight of the weekend’s racing, the Royal Automobile Club TT for some of the world’s most valuable racing cars. These are the beautiful GT cars that, in days gone by, contested the TT. The motorcycles are back out again too, as are the saloon cars, as well as a mouth-watering array of historic Formula One cars and sports cars of the 1950s and 1960s in an action-packed programme of wheel to wheel racing. In the air, as ever, will be the Spitfires and Hurricanes that flew from Goodwood to take part in the Battle of Britain. The day culminates in the Award Giving ceremony where Lord March awards his much-coveted trophies and medals. Memories are made of this.

VIP Hospitality

THE SUPERSHELL BUILDING
A Goodwood landmark, seen in so many photos of the great old days of racing here. The 1950s building is right on the edge of the track at the entry to Woodcote Corner, one of the fastest on the circuit. Not only will you have a thrilling vantage point, but you will have reserved seats in the Woodcote grandstand and a transfer service from here to the Paddock where all the cars and motorcycles are based. A memorable experience for you and your guests.

THE GOODWOOD MESS
Modelled on the Driver’s Club. The Mess takes entertaining to a whole new dimension. Take a step back in time, and enjoy a truly interactive experience where the charm of the Revival will be brought to you. Situated track side, next to the assembly area and just beyond the start/finish line with great views all the way to the mighty Madgwick Corner, you are located at the heart of the action. Here your senses will be alight with the sights and sounds of these iconic racing cars being prepped and then taking their place on the start line before seeing them hustle for their space on the track.

SALVADORI PAVILIONS
These Art Deco styled pavilions occupy one of the most prestigious positions next to the well known Goodwood chicane. You are guaranteed to see some thrilling action at this tricky right-left flick leading onto the start/finish straight. Great views from the balcony, plus the option of taking your own exclusive pavilion, make this one of the most desirable vantage points on the circuit.

I am very pleased that this week we announced the final agreement for the locations of all our venues for the london olympics, with Badminton and Rhythmic Gymnastics moving to Wembley Arena.

This will be a spectacular venue, and of course already has a world-class reputation. It means that Wembley will be a real hub for the Games, with Wembley Stadium already hosting the Football finals.

2010 is a major year in terms of the planning and delivery of all our london 2012 venues. As you’ll read in the blogs by other members of my team, our main priorities are:

    * The detailed design of each venue, and how all aspects fit together. We completed schematic design in December 2009 and are now rapidly progressing through detailed design.
* Venue operational planning has really progressed – we have completed the process on eight venues so far, with the rest to follow this year and in early 2011.
* Buying all the equipment we need to kit out our venues – and we need a lot of it!
* Town planning – getting legal permission to do any work required to turn our temporary venues into competition venues in 2012.
* Planning for a fantastic spectator experience – crucial to a successful Games.

We’re making lots of progress elsewhere too. On the Olympic Park, we are putting together an integrated LOCOG and Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) team to operate all the venues and manage them from early next year, when handover of the Park venues will begin, up until Games time.

The Olympic Park is obviously the focus of the main building activity and we are very excited and proud to see all the venues taking shape now, and how everything is being delivered on time and to budget.

As well as all the hard work happening on the Park, we are working closely with the ODA on what is called the ‘common domain’. This is the public space outside the stadia that we want to be a relaxing and enjoyable place where people can soak up the atmosphere. We are working on the landscaping of the Park and the layout of all the facilities, such as catering, merchandising and entertainment areas. This is a really important piece of work which will also enhance the spectator experience.

A lot of progress has also been made on our Olympic Village and satellite Villages, where the athletes will stay. We’ll have three in total. The biggest is the Village in the Olympic Park, which will accommodate 17,000 athletes and officials.

There is also one in Weymouth and Portland for our sailors. We have recently partnered with a local development where 77 new low-carbon houses are being built at Officer’s Field on Osprey Quay in Portland. The last Village is at Royal Holloway, University of London in Egham, which will accommodate the rowers and canoeists competing at Eton Dorney.

We have always said that athletes will be at the heart of the Games, and it is important that athletes have comfortable living quarters to help them prepare for the biggest sporting event of their lives.

Finally, we are also pleased to have finished equipping our Technology HQ, which is now up and running at Canary Wharf. All Games-time information will be managed here – including timing, scoring and results.

We have also acquired our logistics centres in Tilbury and Stevenage, providing around one million square metres of warehouse space for managing and processing all the supplies and equipment needed for the Games.

So this year is shaping up to be a very busy year! I thank you all for your support in helping us get ready for a world-class Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.

It was a simple win, played at half pace and very laid back.

There was an encouragingly good linkup between Wayne Rooney (who played 45 minutes) and Joe Cole (the full 90) the former setting the latter up for England’s second goal Joe Cole playing on the left allowed Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard to play together in the centre of midfield. Gerrard played in a much deeper role – basically Barry’s role – which gave Lampard free reign to stay up with the strikers. Gerrard set up Jermaine Defoe for the opening goal.

Joe Hart started in goal (though it doesn’t count as an England start as it isn’t a full international) Joe Hart got the nod to start in goal before being replaced by Robert Green at the interval, but a limited Platinum Stars side meant neither had the chance to shine. Glen Johnson gave away a Penalty, which was blazed over the Crossbar.

Capello will have other issues to address, with both Peter Crouch and Emile Heskey producing undistinguished performances in each of their 45-minute stint as they battle to partner Rooney.

England romped to victory in a low-key affair – but hardly enough to set the pulses racing before their World Cup campaign gets under way against United States on 12 June.
