City of Coventry Youth Orchestra & Cathedral Choristers

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

My daughter is 13 and is in Girl Guides now, it seems an absolute age ago when she first started with the brownies when she was seven but this was my first real experience of going to church, I was invited to the church parade, I didn’t know what to expect but I left that place that day on a new journey… I was not brought up in a religious environment, in fact quite the opposite and as the years go by I am still making my mind up as I grow in new discoveries… this brings me to when

I visited Coventry with my daughter and friend to have a look round, a sort of day trip if you like, and we visited the Coventry Cathedral and to say this was an extraordinary experience would be an understatement!  It certainly enriched my beliefs which cannot be a bad thing surely; it really is worth a visit, it is a beautiful building in its own right, rich with history and such a welcoming feel.

I am sure you already know the story, but in a nut shell it is nothing short of a miracle that this building was left standing when everything around it fell to the ground and was destroyed.  Why don’t you visit the Coventry Cathedral yourself they have got some events on their calendar with Christmas around the corner, such as…

Unique Las Vegas Wedding Packages

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

If you would like to have an unique Las Vegas wedding, you won’t be unhappy. Las Vegas has numerous delightfully unique wedding locations and packages to choose from. The toughest part could be choosing how crazy you intend to get when planning your Las Vegas wedding. By far the most outstanding wedding offered in Las Vegas may be the one at the Treasure Island Hotel. They give you a package that permits you to have your wedding day aboard the large sailing ship situated in front of their hotels. While the happy couple says their wedding vows aboard the ship, their wedding party guests enjoy from a nearby dock.

Another great wedding package which is presented in Las Vegas is the gondola wedding at the Venetian Hotel. You could exchange wedding vows while floating down a canal in a very romantic Venice setting. The Venetian and Treasure Island are actually far from the only hotels to present this type of special Vegas Wedding package for you. At the Riviera Hotel, they are able to arrange for you to take the plunge at the roller coaster on top of the Stratosphere Tower which is over a 1000 feet higher than the ground. At the Bellagio Hotel, they provide a wonderful wedding package where the ceremony takes place on a two level terrace overlooking their lake and fountain show. Once the couples kiss, the fountains go off. Very romantic, huh?

Yet another wedding package that is unquestionably exclusive to Las Vegas is at the Paris Hotel, where young couples can say their nuptials on top of the look-alike of the Eiffel Tower. The observation deck there offers amazing views of the famous Las Vegas Strip. Yet another excellent option for those seeking something different for their wedding is about the limousine weddings provided by lots of the wedding chapels. You can say I really do in the back of a limousine while it cruises the Strip.

Of course I can not talk about special wedding opportunities in Las Vegas without mentioning one of the things that the town is renowned for. Drive Thru Wedding Chapels are a fantastic option if you want unusual wedding. Where else but in Las Vegas can you get married without ever having to leave the convenience of your own vehicle? And if you flew there from elsewhere and don’t have a vehicle, you should not worry. Many Las Vegas Drive Thru Chapels offer vehicles that can be used as part of their wedding packages. Limos, sports cars, a monster truck, with an Elvis impersonator traveling a Cadillac are only some of the possibilities that you can get.

So if you’re trying to find anything slightly unique for your Las Vegas Wedding, your choices are almost unlimited in this exciting city. This is probably just another one of the many factors that Las Vegas has earned its nickname as Wedding Capital of the World.

The Prom Season In The Midlands.

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

The Prom season is well underway in The Midlands and throughout the UK. Coventry Limo hire is supplying hummers and limos to children for their end of year school ball. The phone is literally on meltdown with people trying to get last minute hummers or limos for school proms but unfortunately most bookings were taken early in January and February.

Here at Coventry Limo we hope to add more photo’s to our gallery for our customers to view, so far members of Staff have been in and around the Midlands taking photo’s of all the beautiful prom dresses and very smart suits the lads are wearing. Last night at Heart Of England in Balsal Common the whole road was blocked with numerous 16 seater hummers, 8 Seater Chrysler 300 AKA The Bay Bentley and even a fire engine limo. On the 24th June at the Heart Of England Conference centre it was pure chaos as so many limos and even an articticulated lorry dropped revellers at their prom.

Watch this space for updates.

Getting The Very Best Deal From Your Marquee Hire Firm And Key Points To Consider.

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

Try to find a local company for marquee hire  as most firms charge delivery by the mile, if you are located in Coventry for example, then search on Google to find one in your area . A marquee hire should not come about until the planning is complete for exactly what will be called for regarding this sort of structure. The use of this tent resembling building will most likely be for a reception of some sort or an important party. Due to the important nature of the event, considerable care should be taken.A marquee hire will necessarily take some time to arrange. These are used in connection to events of some importance such as a marriage or anything requiring a reception. Their tent like interiors will be a focus of the activity connected to these matters so care is needed for defining what to call for here.

The first choice to make will be how large a unit to get. They come in all sizes. You can get one that is like an extra room or one that can contain mobs of party goers. The list of extras is substantial. Photographers will always want this to include a red carpet promenade.

Essentially these get defined as akin to tents with high centers and ends that are bowed. There will be more to the supports than just the poles in tents though some of these will have poles. Many of the wall units in these have been prefabricated. They get snapped together at the site where used.

Sometimes during an event, it will be decided to remove a few portions of the walls to bring in extra air and light. This creates an attractive environment that resembles being outdoors. Heaters may be employed to warm things up instead of pulling the walls back into place. This would give a closed in feel.

One thing that differentiates one from another here relates to stability systems. Lighter models can be almost delicate in design akin to sun shades you see at beaches. Others have a lived in look and seem like house that have stood upon the site for a long time.

A marquee hire  may be a major decision not just for the person making it, but for all who have to live with the results. Take care to make the right choice and do this well ahead of the appointed date. It will take more time to erect the bigger ones.

Some Of The Numerous Benefits Regarding Marquee Hire For Event Planning.

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

Marquee hire is and has always been a common choice of venue for an event. It is considered to be a tradition in Britain and is popular all over the world and although it is used in all seasons, it is a particularly frequent choice in the Summer months.

The list of events for which they are used is endless. The more common events tend to be weddings, private parties and corporate functions. They are also frequently used at sporting events and competitions. They are used all year round, for instance, at bonfire night and other seasonal events.

Marquees come in all shapes and sizes to fit the needs of the event. Many companies specializing in their provision, offer a free site survey, so as to tailor to the needs of the day. They offer a support team to assist clients in the design and layout, so the client can feel confident the event will run well.

Most companies will provide facilities such as toilets, heating, dance floors, bands and entertainment if required. The type of flooring can be chosen by the client and there is also the option of having lighting and power supplied.

Many people opt for including catering and hospitality within their package. This usually includes the provision of a bar and full catering service. The price of this can vary and will depend on the function, size and scale of the event.

Marquee hire offers a lot of freedom of choice to the customers. Marquees are a popular choice because there is the benefit of being able to take shelter inside from the sun or rain but with the option of being outside too. The clients can relax and let the event be taken care of by the company. Also, many events are held in the garden of a client or at a convenient location of their choice, which reduces the stress of travelling to an event. Many marquee hire companies will deliver nationwide, contact Ambassador Marquees for more details of our great prices and deals.

High School Reunion And Prom Ideas – 10 Steps To A Fun And Memorable Event

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Planning a high school reunion or a School Prom? Here are some high school reunion ideas to help you plan the perfect get together, whether you’re setting up one night of fun or a whole week’s full of adventures.

Class reunions are really exciting events. You get to meet up with classmates that you may not have seen for years as a lot of them have moved away from the old neighborhood to different cities, counties or states. Some of them may have even moved out of the country since graduating.

Maybe you’ve lost touch with a lot of your old classmates, even if it’s only been ten years since graduation. A lot of alumni may only see their old classmates at a class reunion so planning one that makes sure these alumni will keep coming back takes some good advanced planning.

So where do you start? Well, here are some high school reunion ideas to help, starting with how to find all of those former classmates now that you’ve been out of touch for a while.

1. Find some former classmates to help with planning a high school reunion. High school reunion planning takes a lot of work but it doesn’t have to be stressful, especially if you can locate and “hire” some assistance from your old pals.

And with today’s technology, not only can you find a lot of your old classmates through social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace and Classmates.com or Friend reunited for example. And with the help of Facebook and free websites, you can even do a lot of the planning online as well. Once you find a few enthusiastic classmates with some good high school reunion ideas, start assigning out tasks such as…
* …finding those elusive classmates and getting email and physical addresses for invitations.

* …having someone look for a venue that’s large enough so you don’t have to worry about the size of the guest list later on.

* …planning a format for entertainment like music, games, etc.

* …making name tags for your classmates. This may come in handy if people have changed as they’ve aged.

* …planning a menu, keeping in mind that you may need a really wide variety to accommodate different diets like gluten free or diabetic. You want everyone to have some nice choices for their meals.

* …high school reunion ideas for decorations. This can be in the form of banners, posters, streamers, balloons, table decorations, etc. You might even decide to center it around a theme like the year you graduated high school.

2. Location! Location! Location! Choosing where to have your reunion is extremely important for a couple of reasons:

* Your former classmates may have to travel quite a distance to attend so you want a place that’s close to hotel accommodations for your long-distance buddies.

* Size matters when it comes to planning a high school reunion location, especially if you had a large graduating class and you manage to get most of them to attend.

And if they bring their spouse, significant other, partner or what have you, that’s twice the size of your class so you need to make sure the room or space is large enough to comfortably accommodate the amount people you expect to attend.

* Price plays a role in the venue you choose. You don’t want to price anyone out of attending so your high school reunion ideas for choosing a location should definitely include price shopping for the best value.

For example, if you find a hotel with a nice large room that’s often used for wedding receptions, maybe they’ll give you a discount if you book it early or give bulk discounts if X amount of guests book a room for the night at the same time.

3. Plan months – if not years – ahead. You think you need to give plenty of notice to wedding guests? The exact “rules” apply for a high school class reunion. So one of the high school reunion ideas is to make sure you set the date out far enough for long distance classmates to plan their schedules accordingly.

Some may have to take vacation time, hire sitters, board pets and save money to make the trip. High school reunion invitations should be fun and – well – inviting.

Add a list of all of the classmates you’re inviting and if you have their permission, include their emails too. Add a list of alumni you haven’t been able to locate through normal channels and ask the invitees to get back to you if they know where any of the missing can be found.

4. Use social networking siteslike Facebook Groups to help give your classmates a head’s up about the upcoming reunion and to help locate your long lost high school pals. You can even set up a free website or forum to get the ball rolling plus ask for more high school reunion ideas from future attendees.

5. Ask for donations. High school reunion planning can turn out to be pretty expensive, probably almost as much as a wedding reception, or a school prom, where you can hire a limo, or a hummer when you really think about it. But don’t be nervous about asking your former classmates for a little monetary assistance to get done what needs to be done to make the reunion successful.

One of the most helpful high school reunion ideas to help defray upfront costs is to make sure the reunion is “by invitation only” and sell the tickets well ahead of time. These funds can be used to pay for decorations, caterers, venue deposits, entertainment and favors or gift bags for the guests.

6. Hire a photographer. You’ll want lots of pictures of your old classmates and even a new class portrait to commemorate this event. To cut costs here, check with your high school or community college to see if any of the students in photography classes would like to make some money. You’ll get really good photos and help another student in the process.

7. Roll out the red carpet. Just like celebrity entrances, have your guests enter on a red carpet with the photographer taking their picture as they enter.

8. Play music from your year of graduation. You can do this a couple of ways. When you check your high school or community college for photographers, ask around for music students or groups of students who have a band who’d be interested in playing at the reunion.

Another option, if you have a local School of Rock, these kids would love the opportunity to show off their talents at an event like a high school class reunion. My nephew attends the School of Rock in Exton, PA and we’ve been to several of their “garage band concerts” and these kids have talent!

9. Make up name tags for your former classmates. This will come in handy for those people who really look nothing like they did in high school.

10. Gift bags or swag bags for favors. High school reunion ideas call for getting creative and nostalgic while being practical and fun at the same time. Like with any party favors, you can put together edible favors, useful favors, funny or gag favors or things that remind you of the year you graduated.

Custom laminated bookmarks make great favors because you can create them with different quotes on each one. Your classmates can share and swap them for their favorite quotes and photos. You can find quotes for your bookmarks just about anywhere and some suggestions are song lyrics from the top songs during the high school era and quotes from the backs of the yearbooks.

Add magnets to the backs of the bookmarks. Magnets are always useful and fun favors for any party. In fact, you can use even us laminated bookmarks to mail out Save the Date notices to your classmates letting them know to “bookmark the date” on their calendars and watch for the invitations to come in the mail.

Hopefully these high school reunion ideas will help you with planning a high school reunion that all your classmates will love and look forward to for years to come.
